In July 2024, Tennssee Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Cothron was shot during a routine traffic on I-40 in Putnam County.

Proceeds from the car show go to The Adam Cothron Cruisin Past Adversity Scholarship. The scholarship is available to high school students in the following counties: Macon, Clay, Pickett, Trousdale, Smith, Jackson, Overton, Fentress, Putnam, DeKalb, White, Cumberland, Cannon, Warren, and Van Buren.
